Love Market

Teach. Lead. Serve. With Love.

Families across Richmond will feel the impact of the federal government shutdown as SNAP benefits lapse at the end of the month. When those dollars pause, refrigerators empty. Parents are forced into impossible tradeoffs. Students walk into school hungry, anxious, and distracted.

Even with state efforts to protect SNAP, families are still likely to experience a dangerous service gap.

We cannot replace federal assistance. We can stand in the gap so kids do not pay the price.

What We Are Doing

In partnership with Richmond Public Schools, the City of Richmond, Feed More, and community organizations, we are launching The Love Market. These pop-up markets bring fresh, healthy food directly to RPS families.

Why It Matters

Food insecurity does not only affect those receiving SNAP. The shutdown is interrupting paychecks for public workers, hourly employees, and grant-funded staff across our city. Richmond students live in those homes, too.

If we want children ready to learn, we must ensure families can eat.

Your Impact at The Love Market

• $50 puts fresh food on the table for three families for two weeks
• $100 gives six families two full weeks of meals
• $500 keeps 30 households steady through this crisis for two weeks
• $2,500 protects 150 families from hunger for two weeks
• $5,000 ensures 300 families stay fed and focused for two weeks

Every dollar keeps students steady, focused, and in school.
